We dismantled the India 4-speed gearbox after dynamometer and road tests with the 1st. and 2nd. gear pinions torsionally free from each other. The gears and shafts were found in excellent condition. Since then the box has been re-erected and further tests have been carried out on the dynamometer and on the road without any signs of the gears wanting to work out. Tonight, we are changing and fitting another pair of gears of a similar type in order to ascertain whether the results are consistent. The 1st. speed and reverse gears on the 40/50 have 20° angle teeth. These have been used on the 40/50 HP. ever since we have adopted ground gears. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} MADE AT CROXLEY | ||
