contd. -3- Booms. In Front Seats. These were slightly more pronounced, 25% than 2nd test. They started at 10 MPH, was most pronounced at 25 and faded out at 40. On the retard there was a general rumble from 60 to 38 MPH. In Rear Seats. With the exception of a slight period at 20 MPH, it would be considered to be free from booms. Jellying of the front wings. This was 10% worse that the 1st test up to 40 MPH, and 20% worse at 60 MPH. The wings had a higher frequency throughout the range of speeds. Steering. The steering wheel oscillations were considered to be less, otherwise we could not detect any difference. --- 4th Test. --- Conditions. Torque reaction dampers set to have a load of 38 lbs taken at a leverage of 5.25 inches. Torque reaction. The effect was of less amplitude but 25% more rapid. The gear lever movement had less amplitude but more rapid. Booms. In Front Seats. These were still more pronounced. The periods started at 9 MPH, with a maximum at 10 and finished at 12 MPH. In Rear Seats. These became more of a rumble, was more noticeable between the speeds of 20 and 40 MPH, and at 60 MPH. Steering. We could not detect any difference. Jellying of front wings. These were 10% less movement than the 3rd test. | ||
