X4446 My impression is that here we have an oppor- tunity of some production order in the future (aero, car, and other work.) We ought to leave no stone unturned to find the best engine of this type. Therefore do everything possible to get the job into our hands: the prospects are so hopeful. (1) We ought to make an engine on Mr. Ricardo's experimental data, not leave the complete engine to be made by Ricardo's. (2) And in case this should not prove the best scheme (I mean the sleeve type) we ought to keep moving the mushroom valve type that we have in progress. It is so wonderful that if we can get the Government to pay we ought to make everything that is promising and not beyond our capacity. I do not think the above programme is. This justifies our connection with Mr.Ricardo. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
