To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from BJ.

We should like PH., CWB, EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and perhaps JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} each to have a few days a little later.

It will help Sales if you can make arrangements for them to use the second chassis which you said was now waiting for a body. Could they try it for a few days?

Could it also be arranged for a few of our Sales officials during the next week or so to run down to Derby and try the new starter which we consider a very important point, and we should like to try it several times after the chassis has been standing in an unwarmed shed and is stone cold. The reports we have seen so far concerning this have not been very encouraging. Perhaps you could arrange for EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} to make these tests each morning during the next three days. We should like to have all possible information concerning the present position of this unit, as we understand that, if this is unsatisfactory we cannot use any other on the "SS{S. Smith}".

I am sending a copy of this to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

Wepresume it is understood that, when the "SS{S. Smith}" has once started its 10,000 miles, no new parts can be fitted unless it then re-starts on another 10,000 miles.

BJ.
