+346 SECRET To EH. from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/HP.25.4.35. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hdy.{William Hardy} RMG. SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3 - Front Suspension. It is desired to fit No.3. SpectreCodename for Phantom III with a simple front suspension having 5" initial deflection, before going to France. A single spring can be used with this deflection instead of a double one, and we attach particulars of the spring. The spring spigot on the spring cylinder requires reducing to fit this spring, and since the movement is reduced, the position of the maximum bump stop requires modifying. It is suggested that this should be done by a collar on the spring piston, striking against the end of the guide. Subsequently the guide itself should be lengthened by the required amount. It is intended to restrict the movement from normal to bump to 1.150". This reduces bump without rebound. Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} send fresh instructions.
