The Associated Equipment Co. Ltd. Continuation Sheet No. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby. road mileage of approximately 70,000 revealed excellent seating, but we are informed by our Service Dept. that the introduction of the stellite seat alone has made a wonderful improvement in exhaust valve life, so much so that complaints as regards valve life are non-existent to-day. We are, of course, in this country, never faced with the corrosion troubles you experience with leaded fuels, as commercial operators in nearly every case use cheap commercial spirits, and in only one case (some of our coaches operating in Canada) has the stellite faced seat not given the desired improvement, so we obtained some valves made by The British Aero Components Ltd. salt-filled and stellite faced, and these were returned after a few months service badly corroded and burnt, and it was admitted by the manufacturers that the heads should have been covered with stellite. We have forwarded to you to-night under separate cover, a sample exhaust valve and stellited seat for your examination, and you are quite at liberty to cut these up and analyse them if you so desire. If we can be of any further assistance to you please do not hesitate to write for further information. Yours faithfully, For THE ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT CO. LTD., (G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Robinson). CHIEF DESIGNER. 8915 4.37. | ||
