-2- maxim pressure is 30 lbs. Whether the tyres be inflated or not you will appreciate that it is most important to keep them off the ground. If your motor house is both warm and dry it would be as well thoroughly to wet the tyres occasionally. Actually tyres suffer more by keeping in a warm dry atmosphere than in actual running on the road. The tyres keep best in a dark damp atmosphere. If you do not cover the car with a sheet you should at least cover up the windows. Bright light is bad for all parts of the car including the tyres. Even in the case of a car in regular use, it pays, therefore, to fit blinds to the windows. Finally, as regards the radiator, we have received a report from our experts on the best treatment when laying up a car. They are agreed that emptying the radiator is the safest procedure, provided that the radiator and cooling system be flushed thoroughly with fresh water, preferable hot. If the job is done with the engine thoroughly hot, so much the better. This ensures drying out the last traces of water. | ||
