TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} COPY TO RE: DEEPER FRAMES. We have been asked to send you designs for a deeper frame for P.2. and Japan 4. by "R". We are setting these out and at the same time introducing a large number of other changes in the frame which effect the car such as, greater clearance over the front springs, modified rear end to give greater depth to the rear cushion. If we are going to expense of new dies we want to be certain that when we do standardise the frame it will last for some while. In the meantime we feel that we ought to test the effect of a deeper frame and not plunge in and order the dies until we have done so. We have never received a report from you on the P.2. frame of thicker guage material. We think that another way to test the stiffer frame is to bolt on an additional channel under the present side channel. We understand that you would like some sort of design for this before you can make the test. If that is the case we suggest that you tell "R" so when you are at "W.W" next week There is also another suggestion that we might make a deeper section frame for the present P.2., leaving the other desirable changes off, by welding it up as you do the experimental body subframes. We look to you to help us get this item tested by asking for the designs. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
