1501 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} _________ Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Les 2/ER 28.1.39. Wilmot Breedon have decided not to produce the "Trip" type lock, samples of which we have been testing. The reason for their decision is due to the fact that they have had certain cases where the doors have opened when the car has been going along. This is due to the fact that the "Trip" type mechanism is not released until the door is completely shut, thus it is impossible for the "Trip" mechanism to release when the bolt is in contact with the second catch.
