Messrs. Benton & Stone. (2) Contd. -------------- Our experience seems to shew that what we require is a gap of .0025 with a limit of t.005" in gap variation. We presume you find it necessary to make the duralumin plates thicker than the brass plates, but as we require all the area we can get we shall have to revert to the brass plates of the Zenith type in spite of the increase in weight. We presume that you have carefully considered the thickness of the duralumin plate; we should like to know if you cannot make them any thinner. Summarising the position, therefore, we want you to give us a filter with larger and more consistent gaps than the previous samples submitted, and with plates no thicker than those supplied by the Zenith Co. We should be interested to discuss these points with you and to know how soon you can let us have a modified filter element, the plates to be in brass if impracticable in duralumin. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
