Although on test the coil was still faulty. Occasionally during the unwinding the scty wire could be seen through the paper at various points and in nearly every case it was due to a space being left in the preceding layer thus:
The last layers of the secondary unwound were found to be very loose and the foundation very soft and irregular.
We are of the opinion that the fault is due to
a) Very poor foundation for secondary winding i.e. soft and irregular
