LUCAS ELECTRICAL HEADLAMPS DIPPERS ON 18-EX (IN FRANCE)

These have been unsatisfactory. On the arrival of the car it was reported and demonstrated that one of the reflectors was liable to vibrate similarly to the manner we have shown on the bench, but this was found to be due to wires at the Bosch operating switch making unintended contacts and the effect could be produced by mere pressure on the floorboards. The wires were re-adjusted and this trouble cured.

The reflectors themselves, however, are not right.
The reason that only one vibrated was that the dipping coil of the other has an open circuit within the solenoid. Both reflectors were liable frequently to drop into the dipped position owing to road shocks, althoughbeing restored at once (if alight) by the appropriate coils. The reflectors have now been champed in the normal position and the self-contained fuse to the dipping coils removed.
