Need for an alternative to a proposed stay to the dash for the side wheel carrier, to accommodate future demand for longer bonnets.

To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re. Side Wheel Carriers. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E14.10.31.

I understand that with the diamond engine mounting the die wheel carrier is not steady enough and it is proposed to have a stay to the dash.

If, as I understand, a stay to the dash would prohibit longer bonnets, then by some means or other we must obviate the stay to the dash because it is quite clear that longer bonnets are going to be demanded in the future and will come in whether we like it or not, just the same as front wheel brakes came in.

I am not sure whether you have some other schemes to try but should be glad if you would speak to me about this matter when you are in town for the Show.

I gather that you will be down at WW. one day this week and I expect you will be spending at least a few hours in London whilst the show is on.
