Y1280 Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.1/MJ. 30th. July, 1935. Messrs. John Marston & Co. Ltd., Paul Street Works, Wolverhampton. For the attention of Mr. Dalrymple. Dear Sirs, We have carried out some comparative tests between - (a) The 58 mm. Bentley Marston Mark V matrix made by yourselves. (b) The 52 mm. Bentley Marston Mark Vl.{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine} matrix made by yourselves. (c) The 52 mm. latest type Harrison Vee matrix supplied by the Harrison radiator corporation. The results of our tests show that the matrices (b) and (c) are both superior to matrix (a) from a cooling standard, but that matrix (c) is superior to matrix (b) - matrix (b) dissipating 9% more heat than matrix (a) and matrix (c) dissipating 14.6% more heat than (a) (under same conditions). We should like to come over to talk over these results with you and also to discuss the possibility of carrying out some comparative tests on your test apparatus if this is now ready. If you would let the writer know when this is convenient, he will come over and see you on this subject. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
