Dear Sirs,

Recently we sent you a revised copy of our specification of performance of 12-cylinder magnetos for our Falcon aero engines, in which we remarked that we had increased the required range to 30°, and altered other quantities accordingly. We wish now to state very definitely that our engine circumstances are such that we definitely require the 30° range. Further, we know that this is possible because we have on our premises at the present time a Curtiss 12-cylinder aero engine of which the magnetos provide axsuit such a range.

We do not know what range you are providing on the altered magnetos which we understand you are making up in this connection and to be submitted to us shortly, but we would like to state that our requirements in this direction have received the full support of the Air Ministry, so that we are now in a position to say that unless the magnetos are provided with the range required, they cannot be suitable for our purposes.

We should like to hear from you what prospects there are of receiving a pair of magnetos so arranged within a reasonable time.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
