8006. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.1.5.39. 3.B.50. In view of the satisfactory results given by the 8-cylinder engine on the road, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has asked that we should make every endeavour to get the car to France with one of these units in it as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the engine at present in the car is one of the early ones, and has the wrong camshaft, the wrong crankshaft and wrong damper. B.80 No.5, however, which is promised for the end of May will be completely up to date in all these respects. We should be glad if you could review the position of B.80 No.5, and say whether you can anticipate the present delivery date, with a view to enabling us to get 30.G.VII over to France as soon as possible. In the meantime, we are clearing up the details of the controls, the exhaust system, mounting, etc. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
