X2677 BWG{J. C. Bowring} See me Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Sft.{Mr Swift} [struck through] c.c. or. [struck through] c.c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [struck through] c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sft{Mr Swift}1/MW.5.1.34. FILE S.U. PETROL PUMPS. We have had a failure occur on test in connection with the S.U. Petrol Pumps. The delivery union fitted in the top of the Casing has fractured in two, due to the counterboring operation being too deep, and giving a very thin section at the point where the hexagon joins the top of the plug portion. I am sending a sample to Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} and suggest that the right way to deal with this is to get in touch with the S.U. people and arrange for them to send along Plugs of the correct dimension and with the correct strength, and for their mechanic to change over all cars on test and all those delivered.
