Re Instructions for Fitting Wireless Sets to our Cars.

We thank you for your draft of the proposed instructions for the installation of the Radio Receiving sets on our cars, but we think this needs some amplifying and modification before we put it in the proposed booklet on Coachwork.

The method of wiring up the instrument with relation to our chassis wiring appears to be complete except that we suggest that for the body wiring metal braided covered cable should be used so as to avoid interference from this source.

We ourselves will add the section dealing with where we recommend the set, the transformer and the speaker should be placed in the various types of coachwork, but there is one very important section which sofar you have not dealt with, and that is the aerial. At the moment the aerial efficiency is the worst part of any radio installation on our cars. We need to have recommendations for an aerial in cars having sunshine roofs and without sunshine roofs.

Some time ago in the Society of Automobile Industries Journal there was a report on what was said to be the most efficient aerial yet discovered. This was a tubular aerial underneath the running board with a special earth and earth connections.

As we have promised Sales that we shall have our recommendations on coachwork for SpectreCodename for Phantom III ready for them in the course of the next few days we feel that we shall have to issue these, and that the recommendation concerning Wireless Sets should be a separate pamphlet, and we suggest that one pamphlet should deal with R.R. cars [text 'of 25 H.P.' struck through] and a separate pamphlet should deal with the Bentley.
