6. Clock unreliable.

This is agreed to and continuous pressure has been brought to bear on the manufacturers and as a result a re-arrangement has recently been made of the methods of manufacture which should improve matters.

Faulty clocks are a Makers free of charge replacement.

A new design of electrically operated clock as distinct from the standard electrically maintained spring driven movement will be available shortly. This promises to be more reliable and will be quieter in operation.

[Handwritten note: New clock now available]

7. Engine suspension.

There have been three cases of engine feet working loose in service. Depots have been instructed to examine all cars coming in and report on their findings.

Design Dept. have been instructed to modify the stud fixing and increase the diameter of studs. This will take effect on the 106th. chassis in 'D' series.

8. Crankcase.

N. point out that it is necessary on Phan.III. to remove the lower half of crankcase to dismantle slipper wheel. This point has been raised before and is being borne in mind on present and future design. Nothing can be done on existing engines.

9. Engine gears.

There have been two cases of developed engine gear rattles due to wear of Fabroil gear.

A finer grade material known as Fabroil A grade 1047, Piece No.E.89262 has been standardised, and is being used on the 106th. chassis in 'D' series and onwards. This should be used for replacements, it has treble the life of the original material.
