THOMAS HAROLD GREEN of "Grenden" Cordon Avenue, Mickleover, Derby, Engine Tester, will say:-

I am employed by Rolls Royce Ltd. as an experimental engine tester. I came to Windermere on June 2nd to assist in the installation of the engines and transmission gear in Miss England II. I assisted in the examination of the engines and transmission gear after the installation was completed.
I personally inspected the water system for cooling the engines, the oil system, and the ignition system and found them to be in order.
When Miss England II returned from her launching run I examined the same three systems again and found them to be in order, except for a small oil-leak which was made good.
Two trials runs were made on June 10th. I made a similar inspection after the first trial run and before the second and found everything in order. On the second trial run one of the propeller blades broke but this had not affected any of the parts with which I was concerned. A further trial run was made on June 11th and I again made similar inspections before and after the run finding everything in order. A fifth trial run was made on June 12th. I made similar inspections before and after the run and found everything in order. On this run one propeller blade was broken, but no damage was done. Before Miss England II went out to attempt the record on June 13th I examined the three systems for which I was responsible, as usual, and found that everything was in perfect order. I was responsible for the work of removing the engines and transmission gear from Miss England II after she was salved. In the course of removal I made a complete external examination of both engines and transmission gear, including the three systems previously mentioned and found
