Before it could be fitted to the experimental car it had to be dismantled sufficient for us to fit oil retaining baffles in the tubes and brackets suitable for shock absorbers. This was only completed a day or so before the car had to leave. When we tried the car we found the axle was noisy; there were two distinct periods of noise. We tried various adjustments of the crown wheel but could not effect any improvement. We we had not done anything to affect the setting of the pinion, we did not alter that. The only other think we had done to make the axle noisy was to fit Michelin Disc Wheels. We had not time to prove whether it was effect of the Michelin Disc Wheels which made the noise. It will be quite an easy matter to do so when the car returns to the Works. We have heard from outside sources that some makers have abandoned Michelin Wheels because they tend to increase any noise from the rear axle. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
