-17- CLUTCH, BRAKE PEDALS, ACCELERATOR PEDAL. The bearings and supports of the pedals are in good condition, lubrication has been ample. RADIATOR to LOP E.56272. STAYBRITE FINISH. Incorporating :- N.S.3139 Revised Shape of Radiator. N.S.2979 Dropped 2" in Frame. Lec.2817 Steam Escape Valve. Thermostat E.50893, fitted to operate shutters. Matrix tubes E.55881/2. 18 m/m gap. 3 indentations in tube .020 deep. Lowered Top Filler E.55635. The loss of one pint of water from the radiator during a 500 miles run has been fairly consistent. The height of the water (hot) at the start being 3.500" from the top of the filler cap. We have had no sign of water leaks. The valve has operated in respect of letting air in when cooling down. Its suction noise is rather pronounced at times. The steadiness of the radiator has not been too good, a fair amount of movement takes place. The thermostat has not been positive in the closing of the shutters, the temperature of the water being kept too low. Further modifications are to be made with the thermostat operation. The radiator mounting does not show any faults and has remained firm. RADIATOR SHUTTERS to LOP E.56361. Incorporating, Lec.2819 Spherical Pivot Bearing to reduce friction. Shutters thermostatically operated, Staybrite Finish. The fitting up of the shutters with the spherical pivot bearings should allow a closer fit endways to prevent them rattling when the radiator becomes hot. The above have rattled due to too much end clearance and could be heard when the engine was running slowly with the car standing. The Staybrite finish has remained very good. The sluggishness of the shutters has been entirely due to the indefinite action of the thermostat. ELECTRICAL FITTINGS. COIL to LOP D.72503. The coil was giving its maximum spark at the finish of the mileage. There is no indication that the coil is faulty. | ||
