HAIRLOK COMFORT · HAIRLOK COMFORT · HAIRLOK COMFORT ¶ HAIRLOK is the name of the most luxurious upholstery known. It is a material of light weight and great resilience formed by impregnating hair with rubber latex, which is specially compounded with a view to long life and great elasticity. The material is plastic during the preliminary stages of manufacture, and can therefore be given any shape desired by enclosing it in a mould. It will retain this shape permanently when dried and vulcanised. By suitably regulating the amount of material put into each mould, the finished article may be made firm or soft as desired. ¶ HAIRLOK brings a new and better technique to the upholstery trades. The springing of an Easy Chair may be done as usual, but instead of the old-fashioned loose stuffing, roughly secured in place with string, the modern upholsterer slips into position a nicely moulded pad of Hairlok just the right size and shape for the job. Absolute uniformity is assured. ¶ The illustration on the left shows Hairlok Moulded Pads for the seat and back of an Easy Chair, and a roll of thinner sheet which is useful for special work. At the back is similar material, but in the form of six foot lengths for greater convenience. Any thickness and width is supplied. ¶ HAIRLOK is British Made and British Owned. It is a British invention, and is fully protected by Patent No. 341936 (others pending). It is also patented in most foreign countries, and eleven large factories are in production abroad. ¶ HAIRLOK is ideal for loose seat and back cushions, as shown in the right-hand picture. Notice how uniform the cushions are. Each one feels and looks the same. These cushions are much more comfortable than cushions filled with loose substances, and never need shaking up after use. They are more hygienic too, as insect pests will not live near rubber, and Hairlok is easily disinfected when necessary. ¶ HAIRLOK upholstery is already manufactured by many of the largest British Furniture Houses, and it may be obtained through any retailer. In case of difficulty the manufacturers will be pleased to advise. ¶ HAIRLOK is also largely used for motor car upholstery, being obtainable on the following makes: Riley, Rover, Talbot, M.G., Peugeot, Bugatti, Chenard-Walcker. Fitted to a Peugeot car, Hairlok upholstery was judged the best in the 1932 Monte Carlo Rally, a special prize for comfort being awarded to this car. ¶ An examination of even a small sample of Hairlok gives one an idea of its extreme resilience, but the superb comfort it gives in use must be experienced to be believed.
