2 37 R This morning we made the new fan blades and fitted them. They were 1 1/2" longer than the existing ones and 1" wider. The fan was inclined to roar at some speeds but we took the car out to the hill on which it boiled and made a trial with the new fan. This fan obviously moved much more air than the original blades but the results on the hill were very little different, the water boiling at nearly the same place as before, that is 2 miles up the hill. We then removed the fan altogether and made a further test and the water boiled 1 1/2 miles up the hill. The difference is not so marked as one might expect. The C.A.V. dynamo has commenced to make a noise and we have removed it. We will dismantle the machine and find out the cause. It charges up satisfactorily and I think the noise is due to the way in which the K.R. end plate has been fitted to adapt it to suit the engine. We have readjusted the tappets but they remain noisy due to the flats on the | ||
