Thank you for H3/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/LG6529. We note that the surplus of lamps in the stores to which you referred in your original memo. does not apply to modern cars such as India and SS.{S. Smith} We think the system of ordering we now have is reasonably satisfactory. When at Sales we discussed the matter of surplus [strikethrough]stock[/strikethrough] lamps with HN.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} who said that any lamps which are Lucas standard products, no matter whether they are out-of-date on our cars or not, could be disposed of, and if you care to he would be glad if you would arrange with him to have them sent to Lillie Hall. Lucas' might take some of them back, and we might find a use for the others on secondhand cars with damaged lamps.

In a separate memo, we have told you that the body for 16-G-4., can be collected on Monday the 13th. inst. We are pleased to hear that you will be fitting the revised framed patch of instruments to N. scheme 2838 on both this car and 23-EX. The patch should be kept as high as possible in the board. We did not think then that it demanded a very much deeper board than the original framed patch of instruments, did.

We agree that the cream faced dials should be fitted at least to 16-G-4 as R.{Sir Henry Royce} prefers these. In fact R.{Sir Henry Royce} has never agreed to any other dial.

With reference to the hand operation of the radiator shutters we have instructed BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to have an arrow engraved on the knob with the word "open" also engraved above it. We thought this suggestion would overcome the invisibility of the wording which is now on the quadrant.
