| To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x236. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}6/BE11.12.33. Aerolite Pistons The last batch of Aerolite Pistons are not up to the standard previously supplied, the castings being somewhat porous. We can get six pistons which are passable, but these under ordinary circumstances would be rejected. We send herewith, one for your examination, and it will be observed this is porous in the gudgeon pin bore. Will you therefore take up this point with the suppliers. Judging by the general finish of pistons, we are of the opinion that the material has been altered. Has it been changed to our standard material RR.50? If so, this will no doubt account for the troubles that exist. Porosity RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
