251 1263 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}1/JH. 19th December, 1936. Messrs. Superflexit Ltd., Trading Estate, Slough, Bucks. For the attention of Mr. Trounson. Dear Sirs, With regard to the samples of flexible petrol pipe you sent us to test. These are now being fitted to a Bentley to run in the same fuel with which we previously had a failure. At the same time a Phantom III will also be on test and we would be obliged if you would send us similar samples at the earliest possible opportunity to run on this car. The piece number for this pipe is F.87715 of which I enclose a print. We have come to the conclusion that a test on a rig would be inconclusive as there would not be sufficient fuel in the circuit to show up trouble due to an impurity in the fuel and it would be difficult to subject it to just the amount of vibration or flexing it would have to stand in the car. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
