-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/PJH.25/KW.8.6.36. The question of the accuracy of the bore of cams supplied to us by Adamants was also discussed. We pointed out that the bore of cams as received varied from 1.1244 to 1.1270, whereas the specified size is 1.1240 to 1.1250. They informed us that they would make an effort to improve this feature but could not guarantee to keep within the limits. It seems, therefore, that we must continue to grind steering tubes to suit individual cams, and, if this process is considered to be undesirable, then it would appear to be necessary to reconsider the design with a view to simplifying production. In the case of the 405 rollers ordered by us for 25/30 HP. production, By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} has suggested that we should use these pieces and for the time being change only the inner.races. This should give a considerable improvement as the inner race must load the balls more heavily than the outer owing to the greater relative curvature between the ball and the inner race. We intend to carry out some rig tests to determine the extent of this improvement. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.J.Hardy. | ||
