With reference to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}19/MH.{M. Huckerby} 5.7.38. you will have to make enquiries from the Works Depot with reference to GXM.64 GXM.18 and GWN.56 as these engines were dealt with by them. Re the question of sticking ball drain valves. I reported as long ago as Oct.1936 that the ball valve became clogged up with carbon which caused uneven seating. We have not had them definitely stuck up as with the Phantom. There are few distinct faults. Phan.III. the balls remained clean but stuck generally, 25/30 h.p. - became carboned up. The carburetter man at N. says he has not had the sticking of the ball valves or trouble for some time on the 25/30 HP. but he is going to make a careful note and let me know the results.
