1020 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}17/JH. 18th December, 1936. The Hoyt Metal Co.Ltd., Putney, London.S.W.15. Dear Sirs, In reference to your letter of the 12th instant in which you would like us to hold the matter of lining the main bearing with "Satio" in abeyance for a week or two, this is satisfactory to us. What we understand by your original letter on "Satio" was that you had sufficient experience of the metal to say that it would not be suitable for our purpose. However if you think that in a short while you will have the confidence to be able to line our shells with "Satio", we will hold the job over until them. It would help us considerably if we could try them as soon as possible as we have several engines which are confined to bearing tests and on one of these a figure of merit can be obtained. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
