X9650 (handwritten) TO BY/NW.{N. Walker - Patents} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E3/M3. 1. 24. c. to - BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} (struck through) EFC. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re. IMPROVED SEQUENCE SILENT STARTER. Y4168-B (handwritten) X9650 (handwritten) We thank you for your memo: BY/NW{N. Walker - Patents}6/VM211223., andfor copy of specification No.172153. We note that this specification carries the question of the sequence silent starter as far as drawing Lec.1622. We now attach Lec.1802. shewing the improvements described by Mr. Royce in his memo. R3/M1124. We should be glad if you would communicate the necessary information to Messrs Claremont Haynes & Co. to enable a patent of addition to be taken out to protect these improvements. If you will handle this matter with Messrs Claremont Haynes & Co. it will save our time which is very considerably taken up with other matters at the present moment. We think the drawing and description makes the [handwritten: scheme?] matter quite clear, especially when it is referred to in connection with the original scheme Lec.1622., but Mr. Clarke will no doubt render any assistance that is required. We should be glad if you would send us a blue print or if possible a coloured record of Lec.1802. and if you would pass this drawing on to Mr. Clarke when you have finished with it.
