-2- Occasionally it may be found that while the clutch is free from shudder, there is a tendency for a rattle in the transmission to occur as the car moves off from rest. This will probably be particularly noticeable in second speed. In such cases the propellor shaft damper should be fitted, and in all probability this will eliminate the noise in question. Provision is made for fitting the propellor shaft damper on the 20/25 and it can also be fitted to the 4¼ litre Bentley. It should be realised that the propellor shaft damper has only been left off the car since the introduction of the Borg & Beck clutch. We do not think that this somewhat costly and heavy damper is the final solution to the trouble, but rather an improved setting to the anti-rattle device on the synchromesh parts in the gearbox. However, as experiments in this direction are not yet complete, no recommendation can be made. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth. | ||
