-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/KW.15.5.36. We are at present engaged in trying to find a silchrome steel with a fair heat strength. We believe that this, when stellited, will give us the life we require and help us with silent valve gear. We do not know whether you will have a chance to come again before you go, but there are several points on the Chevrolet which have cropped up which might interest you: one is that the silencing ramp on the camshaft does not seem to be anything like the figures you gave us; the other is that the slow running does not come up to our expectations. All we would be interested to know is whether it is up to standard. I attach a drawing of our existing piston rings, and would indeed be grateful if you could get half a dozen sets produced in the States to your ideas. We can of course alter the ring groove in the piston to suit your requirements. We should of course expect to pay experimental prices for these rings. Yours sincerely, | ||
