Will you please inform everybody in your Depart-ment that when blueprints or tracings are booked out they must be held by the draughtsman or person to whom they are booked out until they are definitely returned to the Stores. There is a growing tendency for one draughtsman to pass on a blueprint or tracing to another draughtsman with the result that the Blueprint and Tracing Departments lose touch with the blueprint or tracing in question, and then I am asked to throw our final ace into the discard by lending out the Strong Room blueprint to people who have only proved themselves to be capable of losing prints or tracings. This practice has got to stop, and the above instruction must be worked to rigidly, or I will refuse to issue prints or tracings to any Department that does not follow these instructions. To ensure that my instructions are being carried out, I want the two Departments controlling blueprints and tracings to report to me all cases where a different Department brings the drawing back from the Department or draughtsman who booked it out.
