Although we anticipate R.{Sir Henry Royce} will be writing on this matter, we think it might interest you to know the result of our visit to WW.

After going over the results obtained on the car, it was agreed that the alteration to the diameter of the crankpins was a mistake and it was decided to stick to the present standard diameter of crankpin.

It was also thought unnecessary to use the new tubular rods. The present standard rods will be retained.

The new pistons were not a success; R.{Sir Henry Royce} is sending through modifications to improve them and another piston on a simplified pattern.

The nett result of all this means that there will be less alteration to the Sports car than was originally anticipated.

We are working hard on the revised specification of the car and expect to take it to WW. in a satisfactory form in about 10 days.

As regards 12-EX car. Mr. Royce was against sending this car to France for a 10,000 miles test until it was fitted with more experimental pieces. It was agreed that we should fit to this car the new cylinders and turbulent head similar to what will be fitted to the Sports car except that it will have a lower compression. If this test is then successful, there will be no reason why this contd :-
