| -2- Contd. dismantled and erected without requiring much skill. It would, of course, be possible for the magneto to be rotated one complete turn and for the timing to be wrong. This could be easily avoided if before the magneto is dismantled the engine is turned until the marks on the magneto, which can be seen either in the glass window under the lubricator, or in the window in the H.T. distributor, coincided. With no magneto brake there is a rattle in the drive between the generator and the magneto if there is any appreciable slack in the joints. This could be avoided by a different type of joint. We have not so far received the modified switch for the magneto or the arrangement of H.T. wiring, but we anticipate that we shall receive both these items shortly. We recommend that when a customer insists on having magneto, the car should be supplied with the magneto and its drive and controls and switch, all fitted in position and the magneto timed, but that the contact breaker should be removed from the magneto and carried on the car. We think if this is done there will be no delicate parts on the magneto and it should run for thousands of miles without coming to any harm, and yet be ready for immediate use. When the time came for it to be necessary to use the magneto, all that would have to be done would be to fit in the contact breaker and connect up the H.T. wires - the engine would then be ready to run on magneto.
