86052. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MA.20.2.34. IGNITION CONDENSERS. You will perhaps remember some time ago that I saw you along with E, regarding a proposal to have the new circular ignition condenser on our chassis made outside at the Telegraph Condenser Co. This was to avoid laying out rather expensive plant for a small production when we could obtain a satisfactory R.R. quality condenser elsewhere. You asked me at the time to let you know later on the results of our investigations on the suitability of this T.C.C. condenser for our chassis. A number of tests have now been made in the Laboratory and on chassis with satisfactory results and we are now running standardisation tests on both Bentley, 40/50 and 20/25 chassis to justify the issue of standardization sheets. We shall gain the advantage of having our condenser produced to our specification by a firm who do nothing else but manufacture high grade condensers and who maintain an extensive condenser research dept. A further advantage is a saving in cost as we have been quoted 1/11 each for these T.C.C. condensers as against our own factory cost of 2/8 each for the present standard flat condenser. I thought you would be interested to know of this further development. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
