I am extremely pleased to hear that you have decided to include the above with the SS.{S. Smith} I hope also the 20HP.

With a chassis at our price there should be no hesitation in supplying everything that we think would make a better complete car. Any other policy would be mean and pettifogging, and irritating to the buyers.

We must do what we can to protect the buyers of our cars, otherwise I feel sure even our class of orders will go to USA. We are at a decided disadvantage because so many different people make the bodies, more or less experimental every time, with the unavoidable errors which always are found in the first of any new designs.

It was never intended, or possible, in our scheme to include all the instrument board parts, but we include in the group all that need lighting and can be under the single glass cover. Those that are for hand operating must I think be outside, and placed exactly where most convenient to handle or for the duty intended.

I am quite satisfied that the scheme we have which includes the petrol gauge will do what is necessary to clear up the instrument board, and at present for R.H. car the scheme as it stands is the best we can do.

I have been very disappointed at the time we have taken to adopt this improvement, which is now so overdue.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
