To B.J. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +457 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG28. 8.25. STEERING+ +8950 When we had the Open Trials Car at Derby to fit the modified exhaust, we checked the balance of the wheels. We realised that this was the particular car on which P.N. had experienced high speed steering wobbles. In your memo. BJ17/H20. 8.25., you mention that the wheels on the Demonstration Car had been balanced. We found, when the car arrived at Derby, that one front wheel was 8 ozs. out of balance and the other wheel was 6 ozs. out of balance. Before the car left Derby we balanced the front wheels. We should like to point out however, that three months ago Cricklewood received the Experimental Dept's recommendations as regards dealing with high speed steering wobbles. The information contained in that report cannot be improved upon in spite of all the extra work and thought which has been given to this point. We attach copy of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG22.5.25 which is a copy of our recommendations. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
