x4617 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. CWH. EFC1/T12.7.24. RE 40/50 BATTERIES. --------------------- At the time of writing chassis 35-PK, and 44-PK and 98-NK, are equipped for the P & R battery type TBD11, a depression in the footboard existing to take this battery in its own box. We only have left one other of these batteries, which at the moment is away for repair, and we are given to understand by the D.O. that these batteries are not now being made and no further ones can be obtained. It is therefore considered advisable that at any rate one chassis in the first instance, should be adapted to take the standard battery box, so that either an old standard Exide 6EXRE5, a new standard Exide 6RR5/1 (similar to one already handed to you for 98-NK) or a new standard P & R.{Sir Henry Royce} RR.11, can be used. Then we shall have two spares which for the time being will be available for interchangeability with the batteries on 35-PK and 44-PK, so that it will then not be necessary for these other chassis to be affected for the time being. We are accordingly handing you an old standard Exide battery(6EXRE5/EI) to be put on 98-NK (when this has been adapted to the standard battery box) in place of the P & R TBD11/2 battery which you have returned to us.
