-2- DAZEV1/14.5.30 contd. (h) Controls (i) Pump (j) Magneto (k) Starter switch (l) Main switch } Slightly modified designs, not scrapping any existing pieces, will be shewn on the scheme we are sending you to make them suitable for for American board. (2) FINAL P.2. L.H. INSTRUMENT BOARD. America do not want instruments all grouped together with interior illumination. They want all the tiny instruments grouped in the centre, with the speedometer and main switch as free lances, lighting to be flood lighting from the scuttle rail. The layout of the board will in general be very similar to that we are sending for the 2nd. P.2. L.H. The instruments proposed will be :- ENGLISH INSTRUMENTS. (a) Petrol gauge - round face like the American but with the balance pipe as asked for in connection with 25-EX. We suggest that Derby should immediately take up the matter of getting such a gauge from Hobsons. (b) Ammeter - we think R.{Sir Henry Royce} will insist on our having a moving coil instrument, and we suggest Derby should approach our instrument makers with a view to seeing whether it is possible to produce an instrument more nearly the size of the American one. (c) Oil gauge - same remarks apply to this as to the ammeter. (d) Thermometer - the size of this instrument seems alright. (e) Red lamp (f) Controls (g) Petrol gauge (h) Pump (i) Magneto switch (j) Main switch (k) Starter switch } Supplied by RR. All these instruments will need to have flanges for pushing the instruments into the back of the board, very similar to those on the framed patch of instruments but unlike the instruments in the patch, will have to have an individual glass. | ||
