BENTLEY HEADLAMPS.

Referring to your Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}1/BE.18.12.33 we have again been in telephonic communication with Messrs.Lucas, and they are hoping to send off tonight (Friday) a pair of modified hand made lamps for us to test out on the road but they estimate that it will be at least four weeks before they can put these lamps into production.

We have suggested to them that we might agree to accept the existing lamps on the first chassis with an ordinary plain Diffusa glass instead of the new Prismatic Glass which has caused the trouble but they do not want to do this and would much prefer to alter the whole lamp in accordance with their latest ideas. We suggest therefore that if you are not inclined to fit the existing lamps, namely the X100, to the first customers chassis it would be advisable to send them out with RB{R. Bowen}170 lamps in accordance with your suggestion.

If the new lamps are available as promised before the holidays we will arrange to have them fitted on Saturday Morning to an Experimental Bentley Car and then the lamps can be tested over the holidays under ordinary running conditions.

If the cars are to be delivered to customers within the next four weeks and Sales have definitely decided the existing lamps are not to be fitted, we suggest that you get into touch with Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} in order that for the first chassis standard RB{R. Bowen}170 lamps can be ordered.
