Note that the whole of the box containing the spider and springs is attached to the king pin and is steered with the wheel. (See also pictorial sketch).
We found the steering unduly heavy at low speeds, the high gear ratio, big king pin angle and large amount of out of centre point would account for this.
The same features help the high speed selectivity.

Frame.
Dubonnet has a large cross in the frame.

He takes advantage of the fact that the propeller shaft and centre axle casing are fitted to put his petrol tank under the propeller shaft in the rear triangle of the cross member. His cross is not a good one the diagonals do not go right through.
