In France with 24 July 24 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From Rn.{Mr Robinson} 8772- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}3/MJ.29.4.30. We have managed to make the centre point radiator mounting work. Finally, to get the best results, we used springs at each side instead of rubber. The fact that the rating of the spring did not increase with deflection appears to be the secret of the result, as we should say that now 1-WJ. is 90% cured. The axle failures are still a mystery. Suddenly, after testing thirty on the dynamometer with Price's oil, we have had three fail in succession. We shall have one of our own Experimental axles running with this oil thisafternoon with the bedding purposely thrown on the toe of the tooth, and this should tell us whether the bedding is causing the trouble. We have an excellent report on the inside air intakes. The re-distribution scheme for the "H" engine which has been held up while we made an adaptor and new induction pipe for the above will leave tomorrow. Segrave's second engine should leave by the end of the week. The replacement engine for the S6 is ready and will be despatched tomorrow. We should like to know whether R.{Sir Henry Royce} is likely to be back and if we ought to start on his 20 HP. car right away. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
