X.3565 RE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR AND ARRANGEMENT
X.1362. OF INSTRUMENT BOARD.

We sent to you per registered post on the 16th instant drawing No. LeC.1121, shewing the above.

Mr. Royce considers that the method of fitting the temperature indicator as shewn, should be instructed with a view to standardisation.

The horizontal position of the thermometer bulb is favourable to the easy withdrawal of the apparatus. It may require you to raise the Klaxon horn to a slightly higher position on the dash. The flexible coil near the bulb acts in conjunction with the short vertical length on the dashboard, to provide a flexible system to accomodate the possible oscillations of the engine with relation to the dashboard. This same coil also accomodates slight alterations in length. The coil in the thermometer tube close to the instrument, is for the purpose of protecting the instrument itself.

X.3547. Referring to the instrument board, the spacing for the apparatus thereon has been modified slightly from that given on the scheme received from Mr.Bailey (scheme No.F.7299).

The fuel and oil gauges have been brought closer to-gether, as it is proposed to illuminate the dials of these two by a small lamp, information regarding which has been communicated in a previous memo. The speedometer has been moved a little nearer to the driver.
