X.3161 [STAMP] RECEIVED Re - Ignition Gear & Electro Motors. With reference to the tests you are making on the ignition gear and electro motors, I have received the report of the Lucas 20 lb starter motor test. The efficiency of this motor, both as regards weight and output, is surprising, and we shall be glad to see how you account for this being so much better than the starter motors made by ourselves and others, about two years ago, in which case we only appeared to get an efficiency of 50% to 60%. When these matters have somewhat matured, I think it would be advisable for you to pay us a visit here, as it is necessary to make more rapid progress with the question of an efficient battery ignition. If you could come in about a week's time, say the middle of next week, it might save endless correspondence and make more rapid progress. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
