(sheet 3) provision as they insist on doing their own coachwork, and most definitely refuse to provide a chassis print. Owing to the very low frame it has been necessary to use a transverse rear silencer tucked up under the boot between the end of the chassis frame and the end of the body. Some of the electrical wiring on the car gives one a certain amount of misgiving by the way in which it is draped around without any mechanical protection. The steering column on the car is provided with an adjustment for length in spite of there being three controls on the steering wheel. The control head however is very wobbly. In conclusion I think it would be worth while making an experiment jacking up the existing Bentley at each corner, but I fear it will show that the car and springing are rather flexible and require a lot of travel to get the wheel off the ground. I am bursting to have a go at the Bentley III re design which we tackle, after the holidays. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
