Dear Mr. Grylls,

Referring to our discussion in connection with Centre Lock wheels as at present used on your Bentley chassis and the type which you mentioned fitted to British Salmson cars, we have not details which could be used as a comparison on fully floating axle on the centre lock and the semi-floating on the latter.

We have, however, made some enquiries and find that on a semi-floating axle, by the use of adaptors on hubs for bolt-on wheels to take both our Centre Lock wheel and the special type, the assembly was lighter with the Centre Lock.

We have also confirmed that on a re-design - on which new hubs were made for both types, the same position obtained.

We, of course, appreciate that this state of affairs may not always be the case, but on direct comparisons of wheels we show a considerable saving.

We hope that it may be possible to get actual weights of the components concerned, and if so we will forward these to you.

Yours faithfully,

H.C. Price
