The two main brushes are exactly at right angles in the neutral position - the control brush is at the opposite end but virtually between the two main brushes and rather nearer to the negative, as in the case of the E.575.
On the heating test of this machine, we found that we could run the machine continuously at its maximum ampere output of 8.2, with the makers setting of the control brush, without exceeding our limit for the final carcase temperature of 85°C, the actual temperature being 81°C and the ambient temperature being 17°C. The calculated temperature by the rise of field resistance was 98°C. It will be seen from the above that the heating performances of this machine is satisfactory.
