The following is a list of all the failures experienced on the above car during its mileage to date of 50,524. Miles. Speedometer cable drive failed ... 11652. Rear Spring interleaving failed ... 11824 Tapper cover cork washer failed causing oil leak 12352 Ø Off-side front shock damper failed due to loss of oil. 16538 Dynamo failed. This was due to gummy deposit oozing from the Micanite commutator segment insulators. This cheap form of insulator was introduced without experimental knowledge. Production have now reverted to the recommended Mica insulators. 16921 Dynamo bracket failed ... 19251 Ø Off-side front shock damper failed due to loss of oil 22491 X Water Pump bearing failed (Alum Pump) ... 24908 Ignition distributor driving springs failed. These were the early type which were fitted to Wraith cars and later modified. Correct driving springs have run on 9-B-5 without further trouble for 31,000 miles. 24934 Air silencer bracket broken ... 30895 X Water pump bearing failed (Alum Pump) ... 32902 Water system thermostat failed ... 37106 Radiator matrix leaked (Standard Production) 44237 Rear Spring interleaving failed ... 46400 Exhaust tail pipe failed ... 49764 X Cast-iron water pump was fitted at 32902 miles and has given no trouble to date.
